About Potomac Highlands Animal Rescue

Potomac Highlands Animal Rescue is an all volunteerĀ  501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing temporary shelter, food, medical attention and comfort to neglected, homeless, and injured animals, to reunite lost animals with their owners or else seek new homes for them, and to educate the public about the humane care of animals.

Working with limited resources, each year PHAR helps over a thousand animals find new and better lives. We do not initiate public animal adoptions, but, instead, rely on other animal rescues that have the resources and expertise to oversee adoptions. This lets us focus our efforts elsewhere and has resulted in a very high success rate.

We are always in need of volunteers to offer temporary homes to these wonderful animals. Perhaps you would be interested in playing such a role. If so, a visit to our Foster Homes page will explain more about how you can be of help.

If you've got a few minutes to spare, why don't you watch the slideshow in our Photo Gallery? It was created to give you a peek at some of the incredible animals that have come into our lives.

Finally, our Spay | Neuter section will explain why it is so important to spay or neuter your pets. There's nothing sadder than coming upon an unwanted animal that has been abandoned and/or abused.

And please, consider making a donation to the Potomac Highlands Animal Rescue.

Enjoy your visit!
